The Unusual Disappearance of Mr Spavin
This unfolding story begins in mundane suburbia where a boring little man accidentally begins a not so boring new life. Whilst walking off the effects of his neighbour’s home brew, Mr Spavin stumbles upon a group of travellers and finds himself bartering possessions and ending up with rather more than he had bargained for. From this new acquisition, a portal opens through which the luckless man accidentally travels and awakes to find himself in a new life, far removed from the one he knows.
Meanwhile, Mrs Spavin, furious at the disappearance of her husband, enlists the help of Jalo Strorn and Norbert Melvin – the Intrepid Explorers of Hidden Spaces and Small Back Gardens. Jalo Strorn, flamboyant and energetic with a head full of thick dark curls and his colleague Norbert Melvin, who sports a shock of white hair and is ever quietly watching and chewing on his unlit pipe, had set up their agency after perfecting the art of travelling through the portals which can be found mostly in the hidden spaces and small back gardens, and would take on any adventure to return home those who had gone missing.
When Mrs Spavin first approached them it seemed like a simple case and that it would be an easy job to find and return home her husband. However, not long into their investigations they meet Ms Sweeney who heads up a secret organisation that also travel the portals. From her they learn that their case is not quite as straightforward as first assumed.
The fact was, that Mr Spavin’s disappearance was not just a silly accident but was part of a carefully plotted plan by Mickey, leader of the travellers and all round villain. Yes, Mickey, along with his three most trusted associates, had been planning for years how he would topple the world into fear, chaos and panic and then, when all seemed to be at it’s worst, he would appear and offer order amongst the mayhem and all he would ask in exchange would be wealth and undying obedience.
Blissfully unaware of his part in Mickey’s plans, Mr Spavin is taken on a whirlwind tour of excitement and fun. Befriended by a beautiful lady, they encounter many interesting characters as Mr Spavin’s old life begins to fade away. But unbeknownst to them, the Explorers are hot on their trail in the most magnificent car that has ever been made
The race is on, time ticks down… Will Mrs Spavin ever see her husband again? Will Mr Spavin’s new found luck and happiness finally run out? Will the Explorers return Mr Spavin in time to save the world? Or will Mickey’s plans prevail?
